Triple Can Release: Apian, La Vie en Rosé, & Soul of the Oak

With springtime upon us and all the flowers blooming, what better way to celebrate than pay homage to the honey bees that make it happen. We’re excited to release a couple of beers brewed with locally sourced honey from Mikolich Honey: a brand new murky IPA with honey, and the return of a classic—our saison with hibiscus and honey. Additionally, we teamed up with Eppig to bring you a special barrel-lagered maibock!

The cans will be released on Thursday, April 21st at all five taproom locations as well as for California shipping. Check out all the details below.

BEER DETAILS

APIAN

Murky IPA with Honey
6.9% ABV

Buzzing into cans is our very first murky IPA with honey, Apian. We wanted to challenge ourselves to get honey character in a fruit-forward IPA, and it turned out just as we’d hoped. Mosaic, Citra, and Cashmere hops create a bouquet of tropical fragrances including pineapple, orange, guava and passion fruit, which are complemented by the addition of locally harvested wildflower honey from Mikolich Honey and a touch of honey malt. Flavors of raw honey drizzled atop a fresh fruit bowl ensue. Cheers to the worker bees—of both the apian and brewing varieties—for this seasonally unique creation.

LA VIE EN ROSÉ

Saison with Hibiscus & Honey
6.5% ABV

La Vie en Rosé returns to our lineup: a traditional farmhouse-style saison that was one of Pure’s original beers. This newest batch is uniquely can-conditioned with locally sourced, raw orange blossom honey from Mikolich Honey. Add in organic hibiscus from Burkina Faso and wild crafted grains of paradise from Morocco and you’ve got some magenta-colored magic in your glass. Saison yeast-induced essences of pear and clove mingle on the palate with notes of dried cherries, freshly cut flowers, and peppercorn. Welcome back to the life in pink.

SOUL OF THE OAK

*Collaboration with Eppig Brewing
Barrel-Lagered Maibock

7% ABV

We teamed up with Eppig Brewing to bring you something we’ve never done before—a barrel-lagered maibock. Built on a grain bill of Weyermann Barke Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malts, Soul of the Oak fermented in a stainless steel tank before being transferred to American oak barrels for a month to lager in our cold box. Wood tannins extracted into the beer contribute to its tarnished gold color and rocky white head. Scents of French madeleine cookies, lemon bars and floral notes give way to a rich malt flavor reminiscent of Hawaiian sweet bread. Complementary tastes of toast, oak, and orange zest make up its smooth, round body with a slightly hoppy finish; this one truly evokes the soul of the oak.
