About Austin Burns:
Austin Burns is a San Diego-based artist who offers his own brand of guitar-driven songwriting complemented by “soulful, decievingly withered vocals”(Monofesto). He has been recognized as KPRI’s Artist of the Week, found his way onto the local radio waves, and has made numerous solo appearance at venues such as The Belly Up Tavern and Switchfoot Bro-am. Burns’ songwriting flourished after moving up to the coast in 2011 to study at UC Santa Cruz. There he took part in a thriving music culture which further inspired his interest in folk-style songwriting, exploring alternate tunings and finger-picked guitar styles. Music blog Tourworthy describes his vocals as such: “With a soft rasp, his voice recalls Nick Drake and Damien Rice, with surprising power displayed at times”. Burns recently returned to San Diego to complete a degree in music production. He is currently exercising his talents recording a solo effort as well as collaborating with indie, folk rock band Second Cousins.
