Black Lager

Named after the black knight in Arthurian literature, our black lager Schwarzritter is making its first appearance on tap. This beer was founded on a grain bill including dark European malt and chocolate rye, both of which were cold steeped before mashing to lower the astringency that would otherwise be found in roasted malts. It was hopped with Hallertau Tradition and naturally carbonated over a six-week fermentation. Like its namesake, this unfiltered lager is black as night. Aromas and flavors of toasted squaw bread, lightly roasted coffee, dark chocolate and subtle berry loom through a medium-light body and dry finish.
